The serial number currently on the fuselage is not the original identity. Initial research after finding a data plate on the fuselage indicates NC.32 “NC means Numero di Costruzione, or Construction Number (c/n in English usage). NC.32 was Matricola Militare (military serial, shortened MM) 52799. The wing is going onto its jig (see photo above) for extensive repairs. The rear fuselage has been detached and the cockpit section has now been fitted to its jig (see photos left). A new engine and props have also been sourced. Work on the tail section has also commenced. We do know from its history MM52799 once resided at the Southend Museum.Update No.1 Feb 2011 - Good progress has been made over the winter months; the skins from the rear tail section have been removed, allowing for the tail strut & section to be worked on and were recently back from 'mag particle inspection' ready for 'cad' plating. Most of the frames in the tail section require work and repairs; the previous years have not be kind to MM52799. Classic Flying Machine Collection CFMC Update No.1 2011 0 |
